Learning To Spread God’s Word Through Blogging

I’m excited to be a part of the North Fork Community Church.  We want to share God’s word with you so much that I am willing to overcome my fear of the computer!

Overcoming my fear

It’s Thanksgiving time.  I’m sitting here trying to come up with something so profound it will wow your socks off.  But I’ve been sitting and nothing has come to me yet!  So maybe I should tell you a little something of our Thanksgiving holidays.

It used to be my Mom would be cooking and preparing for at least 2 days. All that preparation and it would take a half hour at the most to be stuffed to the brim.  Such delicious food.  My Mom could cook!  My brothers and sisters (7 in all) would come from far and wide to join in the festivities to reunite with my mom and dad and with each other.  My grandmothers and adopted grandmothers (every family has those), neighbors, friends, and even complete strangers would join at our table.  We would have a special blessing at Thanksgiving.  So thankful and blessed with our food, the blessing of being able to be together, all were healthy, and every year pray God would allow us to be back the next year.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High: To declare Thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness by night

For Thou, O Lord, hast made me glad by what Thou hast done, I will sing for joy at the works of Thy hands.  Psalm 92:1-2,4

This year is different.  The kids  will do the cooking, the setting up and the putting away. My mom isn’t able to do it anymore. There will be grand kids and great grand kids, the starting of the next generation of my family.  The grandmothers and the adopted ones are gone now.  Different neighbors and different friends come.  But what I will miss the most is my dad won’t be there either.

Holidays are like seasons, they are different every time they come around, but Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever. Heb.13:8  Make the most of each one and be thankful.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.  Psalm 28:7

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.  Psalm 136:1

This is the Thanksgiving season.  Come join us and give praises of thanksgiving to our Lord and Savior.
